We all need what I’d call an identity safe zone. A place, relationship, or routine where you don’t have to manage who you are in real time. No performing. No explanation. No emotional labour just to exist. For overstimulated people, identity safety can be more regulating than rest — because rest doesn’t help if you’re still performing while you’re resting.
