Thundersnow – a thunderstorm that produces snow instead of rain – is sometimes reported during winter storms across the nation and in other countries.

Two winter systems are coming together across the northern U.S. this week, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and even the possibility of rare thundersnow to the Upper Peninsula.

The cold snap has prompted several yellow weather warnings, along with a more severe amber warning in North Yorkshire.
