This weekend’s incoming storm is coming more into focus. The very strong coastal system remains likely to develop this weekend off the Carolina coast. The biggest impacts appear to be eastern North Carolina on Saturday,
Wednesday afternoon's advisory from the weather service called for continued arctic cold for the region and the potential for at least three inches of snow Sunday into Sunday night, much of it across the twin forks of Long Island. It said the storm could also bring winds at least 45 mph winds.
It's possible another storm will hit Connecticut this weekend, through it's still too far out for meteorologists to be sure of what conditions may look like.
The system that would fuel the snow may not even form until Saturday, resulting in low confidence in the forecast for New Jersey, the weather service said.
The subfreezing streak is expected to continue through Monday. That would be 10 straight days below freezing — a tie for the second longest subfreezing stretch in Baltimore's history, since records began at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in 1950.
