A Brooks Township resident discovered a python Monday, prompting a rescue effort from the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.

African and Indian rock pythons are two of the largest constricting snakes found across the Old World. Both are non-venomous predators that rely on powerful bodies, sharp teeth and constriction rather than venom to subdue prey.
