The opening day of the U.S. efforts to escort commercial ships through the Straits of Hormuz saw combat between U.S. and Iranian forces.

US Navy MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopters are conducting maritime surveillance operations across key sea lanes in the Middle East, including areas near the Strait of Hormuz, as part of an ongoing naval blockade targeting Iranian shipping routes.

Instead of separate tech to spot mines and subs, the Navy is exploring the convenience of having one sonar that allows a single helicopter to do both.
