Faith Christian opted to kickoff, and with a squabbling kick from linebacker Luke Woodman, the ball bounced awkwardly off the grass and was smothered by freshman Seth Butterbrodt who was credited with a touchdown. It was a memorable moment for a season that ends Friday, win or lose.

For the past three Sundays the IHSAA has announced postseason matchups for its fall sports tournaments. It was tennis and soccer on Sept. 28, volleyball on Oct. 5, and this past Sunday, the sanctioning body for Indiana high school sports released the matchups for the upcoming football tournament.

Class 2A No. 5 Eastbrook (8-0) made three state finals appearances in 2016, ’18 and ’19 under coach Jeff Adamson but has not been back to the championship since. The Panthers might have the team to do it this year, though the route there in Sectional 36 will not be easy.
