Speed Sensor "A" location - Tacoma World
If you have an automatic truck you don't have a vehicle speed sensor A, on automatic trucks the ABS module receives the vehicle speed from one of the rear speed sensors and transmits it to the Combination Meter (instrument cluster) the cluster then transmits it to the PCM and other modules that require a speed signal.

P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor - BimmerFest BMW Forum
I've mentioned this in another post. I have a P0500 code and I was curious if this code could result from a bad input/output shaft transmission sensor, also know on as a speed sensor.

"Speed Sensor A" code? | BMW Forum - BimmerFest BMW Forums
The code is "P0500 Speed Sensor A". For the record, I don't have the Triple Warning Lights illuminated that point to a bad ABS module (besides, mine is only a couple years old). The speedo, tach, odometer, and cruise work fine too. My indy who did the inspection reset the OBD II but the light came on again about 40 miles later.

Failed smog due to P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction
I failed the California smog check today due to P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction. Do you think driving for a week or two w/o the ABS control module "confused" a computer mileage reading somewhere? HISTORY: - ABS/Brake/DSC lights, yet all four wheel sensors tested good long ago - I don't...

Vehicle Speed Sensor A - Tacoma World
The automatic transmission trucks do not have a Speed Sensor A, instead the vehicle speed is read by the ABS module and reported to the intrument cluster which then reports it to the PCM. The P0500 sets when the PCM sees no speed signal input with the vehicle moving, if your speedmeter works then the ABS side of the system is good and you have a problem with the cluster or a wiring issue ...

Need help finding P0500 VSS "A" - Tacoma World
The vehicle speed sensor isn't directly tied to the PCM, it goes through the speedometer. If your speedometer works you most likely have an issue between the cluster and the PCM or a bad cluster.
